Move from Shopify
Import your products, customers and past orders from your Shopify store through the Admin API: shop domain, access token, scopes and what can go wrong.
What it is#
Jukto reads your products, customers and past orders from your Shopify store through the Shopify Admin API with a read-only access token, and brings them into this website.
What you need#
- A Shopify store where you are the owner, or a staff member allowed to develop apps.
- An Admin API access token that can read products, customers and orders. Shopify no longer lets new stores create the old custom app token in the store admin, so the token may come from an app you built in the Shopify Dev Dashboard, or from an older custom app that still works.
- Two values: Shop domain and Admin API access token. Shopify's own plan is yours; check Shopify's price page.
Where to find your keys#
- 1
Find your shop domain
It looks like my-shop.myshopify.com. Enter it in Shop domain.
- 2
Get a token with three scopes
Create an app that can read products, customers and orders, and get its Admin API access token. The scopes are
read_products,read_customersandread_orders; for orders older than 60 days Shopify also needsread_all_orders. Shopify's menus change often, so follow Shopify's own help for the exact place. Older stores may still have a custom app with a token that starts with shpat_. - 3
Copy the token
Copy the token into Admin API access token.
What Jukto does#
- Jukto reads your products (with variants and pictures), customers and orders (with their lines) page by page. It waits when Shopify asks it to slow down. It only reads.
- Products arrive as drafts with variants, prices, stock and the main picture of each product and variant. Pictures are downloaded into your media library.
- Customers with a Bangladesh mobile number arrive once each. Orders arrive as history: they appear in Orders and on the customer, and change no stock, send no message and do not count in your sales figures. Deleted, draft or empty orders are left out.
- Imported orders never trigger order SMS or email.
- See Move from another platform for the limits and the repeat rule.
Test and turn on#
- 1
Open the provider page
Go to Tools, open Integrations, choose Move from another platform, then Shopify and press Set up (it says Manage once you have started).
- 2
Fill in the fields and save
Paste each value into the field with the same name, then press Save. A secret value is stored encrypted, and afterwards only its last four characters are shown.
- 3
Test the connection
Press Test connection. Jukto asks Shopify whether the saved values work and shows whether it worked and, if not, what Shopify answered. The test uses the saved values, so save first.
- 4
Choose what to import
In Import from Shopify tick Products, Customers and/or Order history. For orders you may enter a date: only orders on or after it are imported.
- 5
Check what will be imported
Press Check what will be imported. Jukto reads your store and shows a summary: new rows, rows updated, rows already here (skipped), pictures found and downloaded, and the first rows. Nothing is saved yet.
- 6
Import now
If the summary looks right, press Import now and watch the progress. If rows have problems, use Download the list of problems, fix them and start again.
- 7
Review the drafts and publish
Open Products, check the imported drafts (prices, stock, pictures) and publish the ones you want to sell.
Common errors#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The address is not a public https address that can be reached. Check it above. | Use the shop domain in the form my-shop.myshopify.com, without https:// and without a path. |
| The platform refused your key or token. | Check the token, test the connection and try again. Make a new token if you lost it. |
| The key or token is missing a permission. Shopify needs read_products, read_customers and read_orders (older orders also need read_all_orders). | Add the missing scope to the app and get a new token. |
| No store was found at this address. | Check the shop domain spelling. |
| The platform is slowing you down. Try again in a few minutes. | Wait a few minutes and start again. |
| There was nothing to import (no items, or no customers with a Bangladesh mobile). | Your store has no such items, or the customers have no Bangladesh mobile number. |
| Your plan product limit would be exceeded. | Import fewer products, or look at your plan in Billing. |
| Only the first orders fit in one import. | Run it again with the date of the last imported order for the rest. |
