Connect Brevo for order email and customer sync
Send order emails through Brevo and add your customers to a Brevo contact list: API key, verified sender, list, test and common errors.
What it is#
Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) is an email service. In Jukto it does two things: it sends your order emails to buyers, and it keeps a contact list with the customers who gave an email address. You can use either one or both.
What you need#
- A Brevo account.
- An API key from Brevo.
- A sender address or domain that is verified in Brevo. Brevo refuses mail from an address it does not know.
Where to find your keys#
- 1
Open the API keys
Sign in to Brevo and open SMTP & API, then API keys.
- 2
Create a key
Create a new API key and copy it at once. You paste it into the API key field in Jukto.
- 3
Verify your sender
In Brevo make sure the address you will send from is a verified sender or domain. Otherwise Brevo refuses the emails.
What Jukto does#
- Your key is stored encrypted for this website only. After saving, only the last four characters are shown.
- Test connection checks the key with Brevo and, when it works, shows the name of your Brevo account.
- Contact list: after the key works, Load my lists shows your Brevo lists. Pick one and customers who gave an email address are added to it, when an order is placed or when you add a customer by hand. Brevo takes contacts only, no orders.
- Brevo can run next to Klaviyo, Mailchimp or HubSpot. Only Brevo and Resend compete for the order email, one at a time.
- When it is on, every order event you switched on sends one email to the buyer, if the buyer gave an email address. Your text is followed by the order table and a button to the order page.
- The email is sent from your own Brevo account, under your Brevo plan and limits. The sender name and sender email are the ones you set.
- Demo, POS and imported orders never send an email.
- Each email appears in the Email list on the order page as Waiting, Sent or Failed, with a Resend button. The log keeps only a masked address (for example b***@gmail.com), never the mail itself.
- If Brevo was busy or unreachable, Jukto tries again by itself.
Test and turn on#
- 1
Open the provider page
Go to Tools, open Integrations, choose Email, then Brevo and press Set up (it says Manage once you have started).
- 2
Fill in the fields and save
Paste each value into the field with the same name, then press Save. A secret value is stored encrypted, and afterwards only its last four characters are shown.
- 3
Test the connection
Press Test connection. Jukto asks Brevo whether the saved values work and shows whether it worked and, if not, what Brevo answered. The test uses the saved values, so save first.
- 4
Set the sender and the mails
In Order email on the same page fill Sender name, Sender email (an address on a domain you verified at the provider) and, if you like, Reply-to email. Pick the language of the mails, switch each event on or off, edit the subject and message, and press Save. Preview shows the mail with a sample order. Nothing can be sent without a sender email.
- 5
Choose the contact list
After the key works, press Load my lists and pick your contact list from the list. New customers go there.
- 6
Choose what is sent
Under Customers and orders use the switch Send customers. They start switched on. Press Save switches.
- 7
Turn on
Press Turn on. Until then your website does not use it. Turn off stops it again and your saved values stay.
- 8
Send a test email to yourself
Press Send test email to me. It goes to the email address in your profile (add one there first if it is empty) and appears in the list of recent emails once sent. You can send up to 5 a day.
- 9
Send your existing customers
Press Sync existing customers. Every customer who has an email address is sent in the background, and a progress line shows how far it is. It works only while the integration is on.
Common errors#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The provider rejected the API key. | The key is wrong or was deleted. Make a new key in Brevo, paste it and save. |
| The provider refused the request. | Usually the sender is not verified in Brevo. The reason Brevo gave is added in brackets; verify the sender or domain there. |
| Set the sender email first: nothing can be sent without it. | Fill Sender email in Order email and save. |
| The provider did not find what was asked for (list, domain or account). | The chosen list may have been deleted in Brevo. Press Load my lists and pick again. |
| The provider is busy (too many requests); it will be tried again. | Nothing to do. Jukto tries again by itself. |
| The provider could not be reached. | A short network problem. Test again after a minute. If it says the provider did not answer in time or has a problem on its side, wait and try again. |
| Daily test limit reached. Try again tomorrow. | You can send up to 5 test emails a day. |
