Working with blocks

What a block is, the six block groups, how a block's settings are organised, and how English and Bangla text, pictures and sample content work.

A block is one building piece of a page: a heading, a picture, a product grid, a slider. You stack blocks into sections, change their settings, and your page is done. This guide shows what kinds of blocks exist and how their settings work.

Before you start#

  • Open any page in the builder: Page builder basics.
  • Have your pictures in the media library (Images in the sidebar), so one upload can be reused in many blocks.

The six block groups#

In the Blocks tab the blocks are grouped. Use Search blocks when you know the name.

GroupExamplesUse it for
LayoutSection, Container, Columns, Divider, Spacer, Carousel, Slider, Tabs, Accordion, Scrolling stripStructure: rows, columns, spacing and things that switch or slide

Blocks that show real shop data, such as the product parts, work inside a product area. A block that cannot go somewhere tells you why when you try.

Change a block#

Select a block and use the settings on the right. The four tabs have different jobs:

TabWhat is in it
ContentThe block's own words, pictures, links and options
StyleText look, colours, rounded corners, shadow and background
LayoutWidth and height, spacing, alignment and how things sit inside
AdvancedCustom CSS, data sources and rarely used options
  1. 1

    Pick the block

Click it on the page, or in Layers.

  2. 2

    Write the content

Type the text, choose a picture from your media library, add a link. A link can be a page on your store (for example /shop), a full https:// address, tel: or mailto:.

  3. 3

    Set it per screen size

Switch Desktop, Tablet and Mobile at the top and check each size. Some settings, like columns or heights, can be set separately for each.

  4. 4

    Reset if needed

Reset puts the block back to how it was when you opened it. You can undo this.

Two languages#

Text in a block holds an English and a Bangla version. Visitors see the language they chose on your website. Fill in both so no one meets an empty or English-only line.

Sample content#

Blocks that need real data, such as the cart or the product page, show sample content inside the builder so you can judge the layout. Visitors always see the real data. Some blocks, such as the slider, start with sample slides that carry an "Edit this" mark. They never appear on your live page until you change them.

Do

  • Use pictures from your media library, one upload many times.
  • Look at Mobile after every change.
  • Fill in both the English and the Bangla text.

Don't

  • Put long paragraphs inside narrow columns on a phone.
  • Leave a slide or section with "Edit this" sample text and expect it to show.
  • Paste a picture link from another website. Use your media library.

Help inside the builder#

Every block has a help note in the builder with What it is, When to use it and Tips, sometimes with a before and after picture or a video. Open it from the block's help icon. The Design tab also offers a one-minute tour.

Common problems#

I cannot find a block

Use Search blocks. Some blocks belong to one kind of page only: for example the landing page blocks appear only when you edit a landing page.

A block shows sample text in the builder but not on my website

That is on purpose: sample content is for the builder only. Replace it with your own text or picture.

My picture looks cropped

Open the picture block's Content settings and check how the picture fills its box and which part stays in view.
